Abstract: In this paper we analyse the case of the joint patenting of HB4® technology carried out by a group of researchers from CONICET and the company Bioceres S.A. This allowed us to show the breakdowns found in the relationship between the scientific policy developed during the governments of Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández and the logic of private accumulation. The patenting of this technology reveals conflicts of interest and some of the limitations of the proposals of those governments. The link between state, science and companies; the logics that prevail in public-private relations and the appropriation of knowledge, are, among others, issues that need to be discussed and debated for the construction of a sovereign country.
