Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • El envío no ha sido publicado previamente ni se ha sometido a consideración por ninguna otra revista (o se ha proporcionado una explicación al respecto en los Comentarios al editor/a).
  • El archivo de envío está en formato OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF o WordPerfect.
  • Siempre que sea posible, se proporcionan direcciones URL para las referencias.
  • El texto tiene un interlineado sencillo, un tamaño fuente de 12 puntos, se utiliza cursiva en lugar de subrayado (excepto en las direcciones URL), y todas las ilustraciones, figuras y tablas se encuentran colocadas en los lugares del texto apropiados, en vez de al final.
  • El texto reúne las condiciones estilísticas y bibliográficas incluidas en Pautas para el autor/a, en Acerca de la revista.

The journal Ciencias Morfológicas is the official organ of the Asociación de Ciencias Morfológicas de La Plata.

How to submit an article on OJS.

Jobs
The Society magazine accepts the following types of work related to the field of morphological sciences at any of its levels:
- Complete work, containing new scientific data from original research.
- Short communications on research in progress. They should not exceed 2500 words or 15 bibliographic citations. Can include up to 5 tables or figures.
-Results of works communicated in congresses of the discipline, by agreement between the authorities of the event and the Editorial Policy Committee of the journal.
-Updates and / or revisions of topics of interest to the Editorial Policy Committee. They should not exceed 40 pages or have more than 100 bibliographic citations.
-Documents of doctoral thesis or master's degree.
-Reseñas of the specialty books. Book reviews of the specialty should not exceed two pages.
- Letters to the Editor as a means of disseminating ideas and comments on previously published articles. They should not exceed 1000 words.

Editorial policy
Papers submitted for consideration by a jury consisting of a minimum of two referees, members of the Editorial Policy Committee or the Editorial Scientific Council shall be submitted. Acceptance of the works for publication will be resolved based on the suggestions of the jury.
Publishers reserve the right to make grammatical and style corrections and, if necessary, return the manuscript to authors for re-writing.
Sending a manuscript to the publisher implies that it has not been previously published and is not under evaluation for publication in another journal.
The letter to the editor must be attached to the manuscript, in which the responsible author expresses the co-authors' representation and the commitment to send an original manuscript and the knowledge of the journal's rules.

Language
The journal accepts works in Spanish or English. Papers will be accepted in other languages ??when advised by the Editorial Policy Committee.

Preparation of manuscripts
Format
All works will be written with Microsoft Word processor, with extension .rtf, in white paper size A4 (210 x 297 mm), double space and numbered. The text should be aligned to the left and without indentation, page breaks or sections.
Do not include headers, footers, or footnotes.
The home page should contain:
- Full title of the work. The title should be concise and informative in Spanish and English
- Short title (Spanish or English, according to the main language of the work), not exceeding 50 characters (including punctuation and spaces).
- Key words: up to 5 words (Spanish and English).
- Surnames and full names of the authors.
- Institution where each author works: full name of the institution, including department and / or research center, city, zip code, country.
- Name, postal and electronic address, telephone number and / or fax of the author to whom correspondence should be addressed.
- Electronic address of all authors.
- A summary of 200 words that will indicate the new, different and significant aspects of the work, this must be presented in Spanish and English. It will not include bibliographical references or abbreviations. Neither will write any title such as "introduction", "material and methods", "conclusions", etc.
- Total number of figures, graphs and tables.

Organization of the manuscript
Full papers and short communications will have the following sections:
Introduction: will indicate the nature and scope of the problem investigated, as well as the objectives and design of the research.
Materials and methods: a detailed and detailed description of the experimental design, methods, procedures and apparatus used, with sufficient clarity for the experiments to be reproduced. Mention should also be made of the results assessment procedures and statistical methods applied, including software.
Experimental animals, plants and microorganisms should be identified using the genus, species and strain designations.
Results: it is recommended to adjust to the description of the scientific data, in a brief and clear, even negative results. All tables and figures should be mentioned. It is advisable not to repeat in the text the data of the tables.
Discussion: should be limited to the analysis and interpretation of the results, their meaning and relationships with what is known and reviewed so far in the literature. A paragraph of conclusions may be added.
Acknowledgments: section for the mention of collaborators, technical assistants, financial support, etc. which contributed to the research.

References: bibliographical citations in the text will be made with successive Arabic numbers, followed by dot, which will correspond with the reference list. The list of references should be written at the end of the manuscript and each quotation should be preceded by the number used in the text. In case of using a program for the edition of bibliography must be deactivated before sending the manuscript. The titles summarized without points of the cited scientific journals will be used.

The preparation of the list will follow the following form:
For magazine appointments
(Citation number) Authors separated by commas, year of publication. Work title. Magazine volume: initial and final page.

For communications at conferences, meetings and conferences
(Appointment number) Authors separated by commas Year Title of the presentation. Name of congress, meeting or conference. City and date; Editor (s). Place of publication, communication number, initial and final pages.

Italica
The italic or italic letter format should be used for: words other than the language in which the work is written, scientific names: Homo sapiens sapiens; Spondylus sp. And expressions in Latin or foreign language commonly used: in situ, a priori, et al., Etc.).

Numbers
Cardinal numbers from zero to nine can be expressed in words, above nine must be expressed in Arabic numerals. Use comma to indicate decimals (1,23). Use semicolons to separate quantities: 5,000; 10,000; 75,000. Measurements of distance, area, volume and weight should be expressed in the metric system. The metric units are abbreviated without points: 3 mm. The significance of the statistical results is expressed as (p = 0.05).

Preparation of tables and figures
The tables and figures will be numbered with Arabic numerals in the order they are mentioned in the text, where they must be indicated and numbered in correlative order.
Each table and / or figure must have a title and be accompanied by a brief legend that will be sent at the end of the manuscript. If abbreviations are used, they should be clarified at the foot of the table and / or figure or incorporated in the text.
The typology used in the tables and figures should be Arial 9pt and the measurements of the illustrations should not exceed 11.5 cm (width) x 15 cm (high).
In the body of the manuscript the tentative place where to include the table or figure will be indicated leaving a space between consecutive paragraphs and indicating "insert Table 1 / Figure 2".
Tables: will be mentioned in the text as "Table". It is recommended to use Microsoft Word or Excel for the preparation of the tables, they will be sent in separate sheets at the end of the manuscript or in an attachment with the corresponding number and title.
Figures: these will be mentioned in the text as "Fig." Only images (graphics, drawings, photographs) of excellent quality will be accepted, which should be sent in separate files in TIFF or JPG formats (minimum 300 dpi quality).

In the case of updates and / or revisions, the distribution of sections is at the discretion of the author as they facilitate the understanding of the topic. It is required to present a summary whose maximum length will be 300 words. The references will be quoted as indicated above.
The letters to the Editor and the book reviews will have an organization of the text that must follow the general guidelines for a clear and well-founded exposition of the concepts and opinions expressed.
