Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment: Proposal of a Methodological Guide for Management
Keywords:
regulations, management, methodological guide, WEEEAbstract
The improper disposal of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) poses an environmental problem. The management of this waste is problematic because a very small percentage reaches treatment plants, while the rest is inadequately disposed of. This is closely related to insufficient regulations, which affect the effectiveness of its management and the implementation of effective collection, recycling, and final disposal systems. Furthermore, it significantly harms the cooperatives and associations that manage it. There are significant logistical challenges in coordinating the value chain for this waste and in coordinating between manufacturers, local governments, and recycling organizations, exacerbated by the lack of legislation. The objective of this paper is to analyze the regulations applicable to WEEE, its proper disposal and management, and to develop a methodological guide on the steps to follow to become a WEEE manager in the state of Santa Fe.
