Abstract

This paper presents a mixed-integer quadratic programming (MIQP) model with linear constraints, designed to assess how competition among different industries that consume forest biomass affects the price and availability of this resource. The main objective is to analyze the effects of decision variables on the growth and development of the bioenergy market in Argentina. The optimization model is applied to evaluate the forest biomass supply chain in the province of Entre Ríos, where the fiberboard and particleboard industry is the largest consumer of residual biomass, and its production is more profitable than energy generation.
