Abstract

LoRaWAN is a protocol based on LoRa modulation that enables long-range communication with low energy consumption, making it ideal for areas with limited connectivity. Its application in early wildfire detection allows sensors to transmit data through gateways. In this work, we study the problem of determining the optimal placement of sensors, motivated by the deployment of wildfire detection systems. We present several integer linear programming models to maximize the coverage of points of interest and analyze their practical performance.
