Artificial Intelligence and Libraries: An Open Debate in Argentina
Keywords:
artificial intelligence, libraries, digital transformationAbstract
Libraries are facing a transformative scenario with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). This paper presents the main conclusions of the debate on AI in libraries in Argentina, held within the framework of the National Meeting of Librarians, highlighting the need for technological development aligned with the values and objectives of the sector, from the preservation of rights to the improvement of services and professional training in the use of these tools. Key topics are explored, such as the different categories of AI and their approach from a library science perspective. Additionally, it reviews IFLA's position on the adoption of these technologies in libraries and contrasts the concerns and proposals of the Argentine and international library community. This paper aims to foster broad reflection on the future of libraries in an increasingly digitalized and automated world.
