Kriging of yield scenario maps for extensive crops in the Pampas Region

This paper presents the application of the Ordinary Kriging technique for the development of yield scenario maps for extensive crops in the Pampas Region. It seeks to enhance the pre-harvest yield estimates that CONAE has been developing and publishing within the framework of the SAOCOM (Argentine Satellite With Microwaves) mission. By means of crop models from the DSSAT family, predictions of soybean or other plants local productions are generated. The values are spatially extended using Kriging, allowing for a smoother and more continuous representation of the data. The results show a significant improvement in the quality of the maps, refining the old estimates published by homogeneous areas and facilitating their interpretation and use by farmers and stakeholders in the agriculture industry.
