Technical-instrumental platform to simulate energy scenarios in healthcare sub-sector, based on software LEAP

The growing increase in the consumption of fossil fuels has led to the development of instruments to improve the performance and optimization of resources at different points of the national energy matrix, both in production and in demand sectors. The present study addresses hospital networks. Existing hospital facilities are energy-intensive buildings due to their constant operation and technical-constructive deficiencies. In addition, hospitals also present significant potential for reducing the consumption of conventional sources, through the implementation of energy efficiency (EE) measures and the use of renewable energies (RR EE). Thus, analyzing them in order to generate improvement proposals represents an opportunity that would make it possible to considerably reduce the consumption of fossil fuels in the building construction. Based on the above, a methodology is introduced to test and evaluate the impact of EE and RR EE strategies in a hospital network. The application of the scenario technique in the health sub-sector is proposed using LEAP software. The use of the variable “bed” as a key assumption, as well as the hierarchical tree scheme in Hospital network, Hospital, Hospital area and Final use of energy allows, on the one hand, to test various socio-economic changes that affect the energy-environmental behavior in a network and, on the other hand, to quantify energy consumption by testing proposals in each of the branches mentioned.
