This article describes the implementation, using Moodle as support, of the concepts of gamification and adaptive learning in the teaching of the subject "Algorithms and data structures" of the Bachelor in Computing Systems at the Universidad Nacional de Río Negro (UNRN). The work was carried out during the 2019 cohort and consisted of transforming the subject into a global challenge: granting points to students based on the assessment and the degree of development of their activities; special challenges awarding badges and points to them; and a ranking with changing positions and levels to promote student motivation. At the end of the academic year, the achievements of each student - level, points and badges - were translated into academic performance values. Moodle is the learning management system (LMS) that the UNRN uses for distance learning courses and to support face-to-face classes. This work reviews the experience, the previous situation, the strategy used, a detailed description of the implementation in Moodle and the results obtained.
