The Municipality of General Pueyrredón began processing information through an electromechanical unit record equipment in the 1960s. In those years, it was thought that the incorporation of certain technologies, such as tabulating machines, would lead to a rationalization of public administration. This article proposes to analyze, from a socio-technical approach, the technical modernization process of the state, starting from the incipient local strategies for the promotion of data systematization. Interviews were conducted with municipal employees. Besides, news from the newspaper La Capital and archival documents from the Library of the Honorable Concejo Deliberante and the General Archive of the Municipality of General Pueyrredón were consulted.
