Abstract

Musical listening has been analyzed due to its positive effects on the individual and social life of the individual. Such listening is associated with complex neurophysiological patterns, which are related to cognitive styles. Instruments have been developed to identify such styles in English-speaking higher education students, but not in Spanish-speaking students. This paper reports on the Spanish adaptation of the Music-Empathizing-Systemizing (ME-MS) Inventory because it allows the identification of two cognitive styles of musical  listening. The statistical analyses of the second and third phase of the report show adequate data to consider the adaptation of the instrument to Spanish  to be appropriate.
