Technological maturity status of Argentine SMEs from data science

The Management Technologies Department of the National Institute of Industrial Technology supports small and medium size Argentine Companies (SMEs) to increase their competitiveness by adopting tools of the Japanese Kaizen philosophy. For this purpose, the general state of the organization is documented at the beginning and end to evaluate the results obtained.
This work seeks to generate new knowledge from these documents that allow an understanding of the general situation of the companies for the generation of tools and instruments that meet their needs.
The documents generated for the Competitiveness Support 2020-2021 and Productivity 4.0 2021-2022 programs are processed, analyzed, and contrasted with over two million open data from the Ministry of Economy using data science techniques and tools. To do this, we develop two algorithms in Python using Pandas, Matplotlib, Pdf Plumber, and Re: the first uses the text scraping technique for the automatic and massive extraction of information from PDF documents, and the second allows the homologation and comparison of these with open data.
The results show the maturity levels of the participating Argentinean SMEs and allow the identification of capabilities for adopting 4.0 technologies.
