Higher Education, Platforms and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
An approach to previous studies

The following paper reports on the preliminary enquiries of a larger research project that focuses on the study of the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in three different areas: the field of higher education, audiovisual and digital communication, and public policy, by conducting a systematic review of current studies. This short article develops what has been found and some reflections on the first axis: higher education and artificial intelligence (AI). Whenever a new technology emerges, as artificial intelligence did, especially generative artificial intelligence, it is important to identify what kind of vision and knowledge is built around it. That is to say, how studies on artificial intelligence and higher educa-tion are approached, how they are defined, from where their relationships are viewed, according to which epistemological and theoretical perspectives; since this allows us to know what perceptions and discourses are constructed around their interrelationships. In other words, it makes it possible to know whether stud-ies on artificial intelligence and education are being analyzed from a systemic or reductionist perspective. The radical changes that the rapid irruption of artificial intelligence, especially generative intelligence, has brought about in the private, social and educational lives of all social actors are irrefutable. And, above all, the challenges it poses at the level of teaching practice, evaluation instances and pos-sibilities, access to tools and ways of constructing knowledge.
