Abstract

The present study is the first one to transcend demographic and merely descriptive-statistical concepts in order to attempt an analysis of the space involved. Methods evolved in the German Federal Republic by the "Space Investigation Institute" at Bonn (Bad Godesberg) have been applied. The study covers geo-demographical, geo-economical and geo-sociological dimensions based on minimum administrative and censal units into which the city is subdivided. An analysis is made of the dynamics of the space investigated in the zone of the Federal Capital between 1947 and 1965 to determine the transformation that has come about in the meantime due to the displacement of the centres of gravity and the process of easing up. The conclusion is arrived at that, to a nighttime process of easing up a parallel process of daytime concentration corresponds by means of the amplification of the oscillatory movement. The significance of this is a novel process of agglomeration. The text is accompanied by a comparative statistical analysis of the Federal Capital and Greater Buenos Aires, a "pyramid" of the population, and eleven maps representative of a like number of other aspects.
