Los efectos de un programa de transferencias de ingresos en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires
Abstract
We study the short-term effects on children and adults of a conditional cash transfer program implemented in Buenos Aires in 2006 (Ciudadanía Porteña, CP) using the propensity score matching method. We found that CP increased school attendance, medical check-ups for children, and preventive gynecological check-ups for beneficiary women. In line with the literature, we do not find that CP affects labor participation, but there is evidence of impacts on the intensive margin. While the benefit is not conditional on labor informality, the probability of working in the formal sector is also negatively affected.
