La deuda externa argentina
Abstract
This work analyses the evolution of the Argentine foreign debt during the 1976-1986 period, during which the gross debt increased in U$S 47.100 millions. The causes of that striking increase are discussed and the conclusion obtained is that a great part of it must be sought in the financial markets' operative, through which an important deal of the debt financiated at least a capital outflow. From analyzing the foreign flows of the period, it is clear that the capital outflows caused a net hold of foreign assets abroad in the neighbourhood of U$S 31.000 millions. Furthermore the possibilities of the foreign debt services and alternative solutions to the problem are discussed.
