La pampa y el análisis espacial: algunos predecesores de von Thünen
Abstract
Three Spanish-speaking authors were concerned with and economic analysis of the Argentine pampas between the end of the 18th Century and 1837, viz. Bauzá, Cerviño and Echeverría. They focused its spatial features and described them in terms of categories similar to Thünen's rings Strikingly, two of them were neat predecessors of Thünen's work, and all three independent from it. An explains is suggested: environmental influences, individual biographies, and economic models involved. Resemblance of the pampas with Thüne`s assumptions, and subjective ability to grasp spatial singularities, are found to account for this phenomenon of independent discovery of substantial scientific trust.
