Costos bancarios: estimaciones mediante análisis de corte transversal y series de tiempo
Abstract
Estimates of cost functions for banks are presented by means of cross section analysis. The results show the existence of scale economies. An aggregative definition of the banking output is utilized, enabling detection of some relations between operating cost and specialization. Banks with a larger participation in traditional operations have higher operating costs. Results obtained through time series analysis are also presented, in order to observe the evolution of costs for alternative bank sizes.
