Algunas ideas para un nuevo enfoque de la teoría del "ciclo del producto"
Abstract
This essay tries to analyze, through a reconsideration of the product cycle theory, the effects that on the economies of dependent countries has the transmission of consumption patterns from the ruling countries, through the action of multinational corporations. Special importance is given to the problem of accelerated depreciation produced by the early obsolescence, through the permanent addition of differential characteristics, as a means to assure survival in the markets. The conclusion puts emphasis on the negative effects that over costs, factor prices, international competitiveness, and technological creation, has the insertion of dependent countries in schemes ruled by foreign "product cycles", mainly in final consumption goods.
