Un ejemplo del uso de modelos económicos para la construcción de datos no disponibles: la estimación de la existencia de vacuno desagregado en Argentina 1937-1967
Abstract
It is frequently difficult to test economic hypotheses because of a lack of reliable data. This paper discusses how such a problem, the absence of accurate disaggregated cattle herd data in Argentina, was overcome. The methodology used is applicable to a variety of situations: theoretical models are developed to determine how available data ought to be related to the desired data, and the latter are first constructed using such models and then tested and adjusted for implied error using additional models, regression analysis, and independent information, The study also sheds light on the magnitude of technical change in the Argentine cattle industry during the last three decades.
