Abstract

Nowadays there are a large number of spaces where music is performed. These places could be divided into two large groups: constructions designed specifically for making music -auditoriums, opera houses, chamber music halls- and sites that are used by musicians or proposed by composers but that were conceived initially for another use, what we could call "acoustic environments" -an open or closed public space, a church, a warehouse, a stadium, a bar-. The spaces that make up these two groups behave differently; however, in current musical practice they are used almost interchangeably. In this work we will detail the acoustic behavior of non-standard spaces that are used in Argentina to represent musical and multimedia shows or to place sound installations.
