This committee is made up of renowned researchers and academics, including the Coordinators, the Executive Editor and three members of the board of directors of the Sociedad Interamericana de Astronomía en la Cultura (SIAC). It is responsible for defining the editorial policies and approaches of the journal.
One of its central tasks is to carry out, under the direction of the Coordinators, the first instance of review of the contributions received (pre-opinion) verifying that they are original and unpublished, the thematic relevance and general quality of the writing. They may directly reject, without going to external evaluation, those works (both articles and reviews) that do not meet these criteria.
Secondly, for the selection of originals, a system of external evaluators is used in accordance with the usual processes for publishing quality serial scientific publications: peer review with a double-blind system. It is the task of the Editorial Committee to suggest possible evaluators for the contributions.
In case of controversy, the Editorial Committee will make the final decision. In the case of necessary modifications and alterations of importance, the article will be re-evaluated by one of the members of the Editorial Committee, before its possible publication. In either of the two types of situations described, if it is not possible to reach an agreement by the Editorial Committee, the Coordinators will be responsible for making the final decision.
