Resumen

Este ensayo examina críticamente el potencial y los límites del cooperativismo como vía para democratizar el desarrollo y la gobernanza de la inteligencia artificial (IA). Frente a un escenario en el que la IA corporativa intensifica las contradicciones del capitalismo —militarización, daño ambiental, hiperexplotación laboral, vigilancia y desinformación—, los autores argumentan que la cuestión central no es ética ni regulatoria, sino de propiedad y control de la infraestructura tecnológica. Las cooperativas, con casi dos siglos de historia y mil millones de participantes, son presentadas como laboratorios de prefiguración capaces de articular una IA democrática, transparente y orientada al bien común, aunque enfrentan tensiones estructurales: dependencia del autofinanciamiento, riesgo de cooptación por la lógica del mercado, reproducción interna de jerarquías de raza, género y clase, y dificultades para escalar frente a oligopolios tecnológicos. A través de casos como Mondragón, GKN, Guifi.net, CoopCycle, PescaData, Transkribus y Cooperation Jackson, el texto rastrea las posibilidades de modelos híbridos público- cooperativos, federaciones de datos y alianzas con sindicatos y movimientos sociales. Recurriendo a Luxemburgo, Polanyi, Federici, Wright, Harvey, Du Bois y Gordon Nembhard, se sostiene que las cooperativas no desmantelarán por sí solas el capitalismo de plataforma, pero constituyen uno de los pocos vehículos viables para reclamar la agencia tecnológica desde abajo, siempre que abandonen la neutralidad política y se integren en luchas más amplias por la democracia económica.
