Análisis bioarqueológico de restos humanos del Período Arcaico Tardío (3950-1550 cal AP) en Talcahuano-1, sur de Chile: avances en la identificación de patologías y reconstrucción de estilos de vida

El sitio arqueológico Talcahuano-1, en el sur de Chile, ofrece un contexto único para el estudio de poblaciones del Arcaico Tardío (3.950 – 1.550 años cal AP). Este estudio revisa tres entierros humanos previamente analizados en cuanto a prácticas funerarias, paleopatología y estilo de vida. Mediante métodos actualizados y análisis de isótopos estables, se obtuvieron nuevos conocimientos sobre la dieta, cronología y salud de estos individuos. Los resultados evidencian la prevalencia de una subsistencia marina, marcado estrés musculoesquelético y patologías como hiperostosis porótica y treponematosis. En un individuo se sugiere la presencia del síndrome de Klippel-Feil, asociado a una posible exposición ambiental a arsénico. El estudio subraya la importancia de integrar la datación directa y los enfoques bioarqueológicos para refinar los marcos cronológicos y culturales regionales.
