Abstract

This article reconstructs the history of the “Academies” of the San José de La Plata Seminary, complementary workshops that, as a pedagogical resource of comprehensive education, encouraged the growth in “virtue and letters” of the seminarians, inspired by the Ratio Studiorum of the Company of Jesus and its multi-century praxis. The own style that was outlined in the institution of La Plata and the contribution of its "academics" and teachers are studied, whose survey and contextualization offer us important clues to deepen in the methods, accents and centers of interest of the priestly formation in the first half of the 20th century in our region.
