Abstract

In this article, I propose to recon the importance that St. Thomas Aquinas gives to the science of music and his contributions to the field of liturgical composition. To do this, I will focus mainly on two points: the emphasis that the Angelic Doctor places on the need to study mathematics to understand music theory, and the texts written by St. Thomas to be sung in the Office os Corpus Christi.
