Abstract

Uncertainty should play a fundamental role in any attempt to understand and make welfare assessments about what happen in the health market. This paper introduces the basic framework of the micrceconomic analysis in conditions of uncertainty and insurance theory in relation to the health market. It is shown haw the existence of administrative costs and asymmetric infomation inhibit a Pareto efficient allocation to be achieved. Finally, the Argentine situation is studied concluding that it is very far from being optimum in terms of Pareto.
