Producto Bruto Interno (PBI)Abstract
In this paper the approach of Denton is extended to the general problem of distribution of low "frequency" series by related high "frequency" series, and a solution is obtained by minimizing a quadratic loss function in the differences between the series to be created and a linear combination of the high frequency series. It turns out that this approach also provides best linear unbiased estimators if certain assumptions are met. The methodology is applied to generate monthly estimates of the gross domestic product of the Argentine industrial sector using quarterly observations and related series available in a monthly frequency.
