Política arancelaria y de promoción de exportaciones: elementos para su formulación
Abstract
In this paper I survey some of the economic costs of import-substitution policies and analyze the benefits Argentina can expect obtain in case of adopting an export promotion strategy. I present results showing the negative effects of protectionist policies on employment and welfare, and discuss the effects of alternative trade regimes on the rate of economic growth. Finally, I present some considerations related to the implementation of trade liberalization policies.
