Política agraria para la economía yerbatera como contribución al desarrollo agrícola misionero, un enfoque estructural
Abstract
This study analyzes past economic policies in the yerba mate industry, and concludes that agricultural policy proposals which combine price support-marketing quota schemes are not adequate to deal with rural poverty problems in the small farm sector of the Province of Misiones. Such proposals have ultimately favoured large-vertically integrated farmers and multinational corporations. An alternative policy proposal is presented, which suggests changes in the land, tenure system, the production structure of the small farm areas in Misiones, and the yerba mate marketing system. These changes are articulated in such a way enhances the economic and political fearibility of the policy proposal.
