Fertilización nitrogenada en maíz en la Argentina: resultados experimentales e implicaciones económicas
Abstract
This paper deals with the use of commercial fertilizers in grain production in Argentina. The very limited use of these inputs is frequently explained in terms of the lack of response, lack of experience and high prices of fertilizers. Experiments conducted by the Experimental Station of Marcos Juárez are the basis for the analysis made here, where a non conventional production function is estimated, taking into account as independent variables fertilizer, organic matter content and soil moisture at different points of the season. The author concludes that with the existing structure of prices (high relative prices of nitrogen), there is not much incentive for farmers to adopt them as a usual practice.
