Abstract

In music, it is common to use non-traditional materials: samples, images, movements and objects of any kind coexist in musical works with melodies, chords, rhythm and timbre. However, the recent massive use of AI arose questions about the artistic value of generative algorithm’s music and its usefulness and/or legitimacy for musical practice and composition. This work aims to link these concerns with the concepts of assemblage and minoritarian becoming that Deleuze y Guattari develop in A Thousand Plateaus and Kafka: Toward a Minor Literature, with the goal of questioning about the creative possibilities of the use of AI in music. Starting with the reframing of how musical composition works and how materials play a role in it, this paper tries to approach some of the ways in which AI can integrate with musical works, its effects and its possible relationships with politics and collective assemblages
