Abstract

There is an inherent difficulty in obtaining information about the mental processes that underlie the implementation of actions to solve complex tasks. Such is the case of the mental representations that guide the instrumental performance of music. Over time, different definitions of such representations or mental images have been offered through different types of research. The objective of this work is, by means of elicitation interviews, to obtain information about how expert musicians implement representations or mental images in their instrumental practice and, based on the different definitions found in the specialized literature, to propose a descriptive model of these cognitive processes.

Gabriela Pérez-Acosta, Centro Nacional de Investigación, Documentación e Información Musical "Carlos Chávez" Cenidim

Pianista y Mtra. en Cognición Musical

Egresada de la Licenciatura en piano de la Facultad de Música de la UNAM. Continúa sus estudios como intérprete en L’École Normale de Musique de Paris / Alfred Cortot.

En agosto de 2008 obtiene el grado de Maestra en Música en el área de Cognición Musical. Ha presentado sus trabajos de investigación en varias conferencias nacionales e internacionales en México, Italia, Brasil, Argentina, Austria, Finlandia, Grecia, Israel e Inglaterra.

Es Profesora de Carrera de Tiempo Completo de la Facultad de Música de la UNAM y de 2011 a 2014 desempeñó el cargo de Secretaria Académica en dicha entidad. Desde el año 2012 pertenece también al banco de tutores y profesores invitados del Posgrado en Ciencias Cognitivas de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos y desde enero del 2015 es investigadora del Centro Nacional de Investigación, Documentación e Información Musical “Carlos Chávez” Cenidim.

Actualmente cursa los estudios de Doctorado en el área de Cognición Musical en el Programa de Posgrado en Música de la UNAM y durante el primer semestre de 2017 realizó una estancia de investigación con el grupo Music, Mind & Brain de la Goldsmiths University en Londres, Inglaterra.
