BIOCENTRISMO, O EL VALOR EN UNA ÉTICA DEL RESPETO A LA NATURALEZA

This article presents the main concepts developed by Charles W. Taylor within the framework of the perspective of biocentrism and his proposal of an ethics of respect for nature. The proposed approach describes the assumption of moral obligations with all living beings because each of them is member of the biotic community of the Earth and advocates respect for nature as the basic moral attitude to be adopted as a foundation of a system of environmental ethics that recognize the own good of each living being. Thus, while the idea of the good of a biotic entity is conceived as an end in itself, on the other hand the belonging of the human beings to the community of the Earth and the biological interdependence of the natural ecosystems give rise to the configuration of a unique ethical system of duties that acts as a guarantor of respect for the living and modifies the philosophical conception of the world that man has developed and from which he wrongly argues a position of superiority.
