Dolores Mendieta

Argentinean artist, born and educated in Buenos Aires. She has a degree in and teaches Visual Arts (Universidad Nacional del Arte). She is also National Professor of Painting (Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes P. Pueyrredón). She attended postgraduate seminars on artistic techniques at the Ernesto de la Cárcova School of Fine Arts. Her work investigates about Latin American identity. The style of his early years (1998-2005) is characterized by a social realism and a magical realism, strongly portrayed. Then, with the series Cosmogonies and Sikurias, he changes to a symbolic figuration, with a strong narrative, telluric, mythical, musical and imaginative content, inspired by Amerindian cosmogonic design and popular art; achieving a unique style of great color and tenderness. He has been living in San Javier, Córdoba for 12 years. His house-workshop in the middle of the mountain and located in the sierra at an altitude of 1000 m is a cultural attraction of the region.
