Abstract

The film Firts they killed my father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers (2017) is based on the book of the same name by Loung Ung (2001), in which she narrates her personal story, lived and suffered, of the atrocious crimes committed by the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. Loung's gaze is the gaze of a witness, of a victim who shows us the darkest and most despicable side of the human being with the aim of ensuring that the logic of memory prevails over that of oblivion in order to guarantee the non-repetition of what happened.
