The International Court of Justice and the protection of human rights in Palestine

When it comes to protecting human rights, the role played by the International Court of Justice has become more and more relevant at an international level. By means of a more humanistic approach in its case law, the United Nations judicial body has made an important contribution to the creation of a large and detailed international legal corpus in connection with human rights. The Court's case law evolutionary process has come to clarify the standards of international behaviour so as to guarantee that human rights be more effectively protected. However, in order to find out whether such development in case law truly makes a contribution towards this end, it will be necessary to analyze its practical application. That is why, in this article, we will go over the various rulings issued by the Court in connection with the Israeli-Palestine conflict and, in their light, we will attempt to determine whether they have indeed afforded more efficient human rights protection.
