Abstract

Fine fruit production in an organic and/or agroecological way in the Andean Region of the 42th Parallel faces the problem of little local information on crop health management practices, which has a direct impact on current production and on the possibility of future agroecological transitions. Our objective was to evaluate the effect of different management practices on the taxonomic and functional biodiversity of arthropods in organic raspberry crops in fields of El Bolsón, Río Negro. We found that a higher frequency of manual weeding, fertilization with local manure and the non-use of chemical pest control favors greater richness, diversity and equitativity of morphospecies, as well as higher heterogeneity in the composition of the community regarding eating habits and the agricultural importance of arthropods. This greater diversity does not imply an increase in the abundance or dominance of potential pests, but rather an increase in potential biological controllers (predators and parasitoids). These results allow us to think about the design of biological control practices that allow crops without spontaneous vegetation, as long as there are nearby natural environments and agricultural diversity within the farm.
