Producto Bruto Interno (PBI)Abstract
This paper presents information on public expenditures and revenues (in totals in per capita terms and in relation to Gross Domestic Product) of the Province of Buenos Aires' Government for the 1885-1979 period. An empirical testing of WAGNER'S Law gives these results: it is verified that (both for total expenditures and total expenditures net of public debt's services), per capita expenditures has grown in a proportion greater than per capita G.D.P. in the 1900-1979 period as a whole; on the other hand per capita revenue's growth has been less than proportional. Federal revenue-sharing receipts have grown in per capita terms more rapidly than per capita G.P.D. during the 1935-1979 (1935 was the starting year of the revenue-sharing systems).
