La aplicación de putrescina exógena extiende la vida útil de las bananas en postcosecha

El objetivo de la investigación fue evaluar el efecto de la aplicación exógena de putrescina sobre la conservación postcosecha de bananas. Los frutos fueron cosechados en el Campo Experimental de Fruticultura del Departamento de Producción Vegetal de la Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz, Piracicaba, SP-Brasil. Después de la higienización y selección, fueron aplicados los tratamientos con diferentes dosis de putrescina (0,5; 1,0 y 1,5 mM), y se utilizó un testigo que no recibió las aminas biogénicas. Los frutos se almacenaron a 18 °C ± 1 y se evaluaron los siguientes parámetros: pérdida de peso, firmeza, sólidos solubles, acidez, pH, color, tasa respiratoria y producción de etileno. Los resultados mostraron que las bananas tratadas perdieron menos peso y mantuvieron su firmeza y color durante más tiempo, independientemente de la dosis de putrescina. Los sólidos solubles, pH y ácido málico no se vieron afectados por la putrescina, pero variaron con el tiempo. La tasa respiratoria y producción de etileno fueron menores en las bananas tratadas, lo que sugiere un menor gasto energético y una mayor estabilidad durante el almacenamiento. En resumen, la putrescina aplicada externamente afecta los parámetros respiratorios y la producción de etileno, lo que prolonga la vida útil de las bananas después de la cosecha.
