Species of the Trichoderma genus behave as very good antagonists of plant pathogens. The objective of this research was to study the effect of three strains of Trichoderma harzianum (Th118, Th5cc and Thr2) as a biostimulant in tomato plants and their action as antagonists against three phytopathogenic fungi of this crop. For this, in vitro and greenhouse tests were carried out. For dual cultures and in-plant trials, Trichoderma harzianum strains belonging to the fungal strain bank of Centro de Investigaciones de Fitopatología were used. The strains of Trichoderma harzianum were confronted with three phytopathogenic fungi, Botrytis cinerea, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and Alternaria sp. in order to evaluate its biocontrol action. For the greenhouse trials, the antagonists were incorporated as a spore suspension into the speedlings, for to evaluate the biostimulant effect on the plants. In dual cultures, both after 24 and 96 hours of incubation, the behavior of the T. harzianum strains varies depending on which pathogen they confront. Regarding the dry and fresh weight of the plants, although there were no statistically significant differences, the Th5cc and Thr2 strains were the ones that showed the highest values. Regarding the greenness index, the Th 118 strain was the one that caused the highest value in the plants. It is necessary to repeat these tests and corroborate the positive effect of T. harzianum on tomato plants.
