Juan Bautista Cartes Rodríguez’s work, El sistema africano de protección de los derechos humanos y de los pueblos, published by Tirant lo Blanch (2024), is a comprehensive and rigorous analysis of the African regional system for the protection of human rights. It addresses five key issues, each of which is covered in a separate chapter: the historical and legal evolution of the African system, the specific features of the regional system's human rights treaties, the functioning of the African system's guarantee and control mechanisms, and, finally, the role of the subregional systems of the African economic communities in the field of human rights.
