In search of the lost political meaning

Abstract

Javier Milei's electoral victory surprised Argentine society no less than the country's political arc. The reasons for this triumph still arouse controversy in the public sphere. A book by sociologist Javier Balsa offers a series of keys to better understand this process. His analysis is based on original empirical research prior to the electoral outcome. The conclusions that he draws from them are critically discussed in this text. Balsa reveals in depth a series of social and ideological mutations that made possible a radical political change in the country in the context of a crisis of multiple dimensions.
