Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Is your article clear, concise and accessible? It is important that a critical reading is done by peers outside the work, suggesting any change in spelling, grammar or use of words.
  • Does the general format of the document conform to that specified in the instructions for authors? Consult the instructions for authors.
  • Have you established the type of work in which you want to frame your presentation? Research papers, educational research papers, short communications, case descriptions, technical reports, review articles and (only for organizers) abstracts of presentations at scientific meetings.
  • Have you stuck to the length of the item specified for the selected article type? Consult the instructions for the authors.
  • Does the document contain all the sections for the selected article type?
  • Is the title of the article clear, concise, informative and does it include any conclusion of the work?
  • Does the title have the characteristics specified in the information for authors? Consult the instructions for the authors.
  • Did you include the full names and affiliation of all authors?
  • Do the authors have ORCID identification?
  • Did you include a summary of no more than 200 words and up to 5 keywords, in both languages?
  • Are all references to the literature included in the text listed in the references section, and viceversa?
  • Are the references in the text highlighted in blue?
  • Do all the references in the corresponding list conform to the instructions for authors? Consult the instructions for the authors.
  • Did you include the Acknowledgements section? The section should include, at least, the source of financing for the work
  • Did you include the Conflict of interest section? An example is provided in the information for authors.
  • If you worked with animals, did you include the certification of approval, by the ethics committee of your academic unit, or by a competent institution?
  • Was it ensured that the figures were not included in the same file containing the text of the work?
  • Are individual submitted figures in TIFF format of at least 300 dpi? Consult information for authors. Figures that do not meet the standards will be returned for correction.
  • Do microscopic and ultrastructural images have a calibration bar that denotes their magnification? Its non-inclusion will be reason for return to the authors.
  • The contents of the work have not been published in any language, nor are they being evaluated for publication in another journal?

Research Articles

They are complete reports of original research or metanalysis. They consist of the following sections (4): Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, and Discussion and conclusions.

Short Communications

These are original reports that are characterized by being limited in size or extent or, because of their novelty, require immediate communication as a preview of a more exhaustive one. They consist of the same sections as the research works. They cannot exceed 5 pages of text (in A4­ size paper, excluding the first page and the abstract page) or the 3 figures. They will have, at most, 15 bibliographical references.

Case reports

They consist in the description of cases with unusual aspects that provide meaningful and original information. This concept includes the presentation or unusual progress of a disease, collateral or adverse effects not reported during treatments or vaccination plans, among others. They consist of Introduction, Presentation of the case (with the subtitles that require the type of case) and Discussion and conclusions. It must include relevant findings, both positive and negative, that arise from the examinations performed, the interpretation of the results and their discussion with references to the articles cited. If it is only one case, the clinical history will be complete, if there are several, only the most relevant data of each one will be consigned. They will have a maximum of 15 bibliographical references.

Review articles

They are narrative reviews aimed at updating a relevant topic and include a critical discussion of the state of knowledge. They consist of a brief Introduction (in which the interest of the topic or the reason for the review is explained), Subtitles (those that are appropriate to the topic in question) and Discussion and conclusions. They will have, at least, 40 bibliographical references.

Teaching research articles

These are works that constitute a contribution for the teaching of Veterinary Sciences (research work, interventions, etc.) that are superior to the mere presentation of quantitative results and include the corresponding analysis. They consist of the following sections (5): Introduction (in which the motive of interest, the current status of the issue, the theoretical foundations frame and the objectives and hypotheses may be included), Methods, Results (presentation and analysis), Discussion and conclusions, and Projection of the investigation.

Technical reports

They are descriptions and analysis of novel techniques in the fields of research, diagnosis or surgical treatment. They consist of Introduction, Methodological description, and Discussion and conclusions. In this and other types of work that require it, the methodological description can be enriched through videos of high-quality information. They will have, at most, 15 bibliographical references.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal will be used exclusively for the purposes stated in it and will not be provided to third parties or use for other purposes.
