The aim of this study was to a preliminary study of the dorsal edge of the neck in race Colombian in Caracas-Venezuela. Were studied a total of 57 horses of this breed, aged between 4 and 10 years in Caracas, Miranda State, Venezuela. They underwent exercise of moderate intensity, the same conditions of feeding and management. A clinical examination was performed by inspection and palpation following the protocol described for horses. Morphologic considering weight and body condition was performed following the protocol described for equine adiposity. The distance of a line from the neck to the cranial side of the crosshair was measured. Neck circumference the degree of correlation was measured and finally the study of weight, measure the neck (cresty neck score) and body condition by the Pearson test. No cervical lesions and deformation of the dorsal edge of the neck in the animals studied, except that if a case had mild deformation of the region under study was observed. Morphological study evidenced neck: Score 0 - no horse in this category. Score 1 - 55/57 (96.4 %). Score 2 - 1/57 (1.75 %), grade 2 rating deformation. 3 - 1/57 (1.75 %), grade 3 strain, Score 4 and 5 No horse was observed under these categories. The average diameter of the neck to the score 1 was 84.56 kg, DS: 3.57 Variance: 12.57, the average neck length was 66.65 cm, SD: 4.75, variance: 22.15 and the average weight was 350.61 cm, DS: 11.34, Variance: 126.30. The degree of correlation between weight versus cervical diameter showed a correlation coefficient of 0.416 and the grade point of the neck (cresty neck score) and body condition a correlation of 0.638 was presented.
