Estudio de olas de calor en la ciudad de La Plata en el período 1988-2023

En nuestro paı́s las invasiones de aire tropical húmedo han sido poco estudiadas y se las ha enmarcado dentro del estudio de temperaturas extremas, junto con las irrupciones de aire frı́o. Las invasiones de aire cálido que provocan olas de calor provienen principalmente de la región meridional del continente y suceden durante perı́odos relativamente largos dominados por vientos de componente norte. Afectan la región centro norte de Argentina, generando condiciones de fuerte estrés térmico para personas y demás seres vivos. En situaciones extraordinarias pueden llegar a cubrir el norte de la Patagonia aunque en general, su efecto en esta región es poco frecuente. Este trabajo realiza un estudio de las olas de calor registradas en la ciudad de La Plata en el perı́odo que va del 1 de enero de 1988 al 31 de marzo de 2023, entendiendo que estos eventos se dan en el marco de situaciones sinópticas caracterı́sticas de la temporada cálida del año y como tales, afectan a toda la región.
