Tempestades de polvo en la provincia de Mendoza: caracterı́sticas climatológicas
Abstract
La ocurrencia de tempestades de polvo en Mendoza suele generar problemas ambientales y sociales debido a que la provincia presenta condiciones climáticas que favorecen el desarrollo de este tipo de eventos. El propósito de este trabajo fue desarrollar una climatologı́a para las tempestades de polvo en Mendoza, en base a los registros meteorológicos de siete estaciones del Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, para cuantificar y analizar caracterı́sticas como su frecuencia, duración e intensidad en el perı́odo 1981-2021. Los resultados muestran que la estación Mendoza Aero es la que registró la mayor frecuencia de eventos, con una duración media que oscila entre 1 y 2,5 horas. Se evidenció un predominio de eventos en primavera, principalmente en el mes de octubre, con una intensidad del viento promedio de 55 km/h, mientras que la visibilidad puede reducirse hasta los 200 mts.
