In this article, the critical perspective formulated by Michel Foucault as an ontology of the present is retaken for the purposes of the socio-philosophical problematization of the media dimension of our contemporary modes of coexistence. For that, in the framework of Foucault's analysis of power, the idea of conditioning the milieu is recovered as a key aspect of the biopolitical rationalities of government of the population. It is proposed to consider the notion of milieuas an articulator of the relations between power, subjectivity and spatiality and that allows to understand the logic of conformation of media environments. In addition, around this concept, it is proposed to establish continuities between the thinking of Foucault and Peter Sloterdijk. From its definition of the milieu in terms of "sphere", the latter makes it a central analytical tool for the critical interpretation of current media societies. In these, it can be affirmed, to paraphrase Marshall Mcluhan - in whose wake Sloterdijk's thought is situated- that the conditioning of the medium -this is the conformation of spheres of resonance or environments of coexistence - is the message of the present forms of tele-communication.
