Abstract

When Gilles Deleuze wrote his brief "Post Scriptum about Control Societies" in 1990, could hardly have imagined that his concept would be so used and adapted to explain the political, economic and social transformations in relation to the growing penetration of information and communication technologies. This pioneering text is undoubted reference when it comes to thinking and analyzing the growing problems of control and digital technologies and many of the hypotheses put forward in that text have been confirmed (others not), but much has changed since 1990 at the level of the social but also at the technological level.Social networking platforms, algorithms, mobile devices, "terrorism", national security laws, computer espionage, Net Neutrality, NSA, Alliance of 5 Eyes, revelations of Wikileaks and Snowden among other points stress and invite an update of the Post Scriptum when thinking about contemporary control and surveillance. It is the objective of this work to reflect, analyze, suggest and apply theoretical and practical contributions to this task.
