Abstract

The Digitization Service of PREBI-SEDICI Repository is described since its beginnings in the institutional framework of the National University of La Plata (UNLP) and the IberoAmerican Consortium for Education in Science and Technology (ISTEC). This service makes its appearance in the framework of Library Linkage (LibLink) initiative and the Open Access movement since its inception. The procedures of work, oriented towards digital preservation and distribution, are detailed, and the scanners in use and the workflow with its characteristics are presented. Two distinctive cases of digitization are described: The Exact Sciences Faculty Libro copiador and some of the volumes from the UNLP Colección Cervantina (1742-1905).
